It will take place in 45 minutes, and last as long as necessary, the moderator will be the North (the most neutral person I could find) Sorry I had to do somethings earlier today; off subject I will be posting the state's map later.

LBJ clears his throat and prepares to begin his opening statement. "Citizens of this great nation, I am here today to prove to you that I am indeed the best choice for President of Quantrime. First off, may I point out some of the reasons this is. I have your best interests at heart such as the banning of Biological and Chemical weapons while still maintaining a safe deterrent and safe means of energy production through Nuclear power. I also believe that a nation such as ours, though a confederacy of many small semi-autonomous states with each of their own militarys, requires a national military under the guidance of the President and Secretary of Defense. I can see a great future for this nation and the people of this nation. A future of safety, peace, and mindfulness. Thank you for this opportunity." LBJ straightens his suit and stands, looking forward to his opponent's opening statements.

OOC: Sorry I forgot I had to tutor someone when I said the debate would start XD
FDR stood up and started his speech in his normal fervor, "I believe we need an approach that will equally represent everyone, otherwise the rich will take advantage of the system and exploit it for themselves, and we must stand united in helping the common man, we all must help those who can't take care of themselves. The young and old need to be prevented from starving or having poor or no healthcare, or the young's education, we cannot compete on the world stage without creating a world class education system, but these programs will be going through the states, and we will defend and protect the constitution! The world is a dangerous place and we all must look out for one another or we will all be lost! and as one of the great minds and a great friend of mine once said: 'When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.'"

"My fellow citizens, we need a libertarian approach where the government leaves us to make our own decisions about our lives and states, we will be better off than what a bunch of politicians deciding what is better for us to do, you and me are the greatest decider of our own lives. Government should be completely banned from our lives, no one should tell you what you can and cannot do to your body, and businesses should be left to make there own decisions. A free market is the best market and let no one tell you otherwise!" Finn Balor takes a deep breath relived that he didn't make a mistake trying to hide is Irish accent.

Okay first question is for LBJ (and anyone can answer afterwards unless Phraq directly states another candidates name)
The moderator asks, how do you plan on getting us to energy independence? Mr Johnson

"I plan on creating a tariff that will limit our country's dependence on foreign oil and the money from this tariff shall go towards our nuclear power programs and even other small local energy developments for the states or cities that do not so much agree with the use of nuclear power. These local energy developments could include oil drilling in Texas and Alaska and even wind power. Now I do understand that this will take quite a long time to implement but I am determined to get our country out from under foreign influences."

"However, we can never doubt the ability to allow the free market to fix our problems, if foreign oil ends up putting us at risk, the free market is always the best decider for anything, and I would like to ask LBJ, why his position on tariffs are different to his platform?"

"I am aware that this point of view of mine may seem different than that of my platform and that is correct. For quite a time now I have not totally backed others in my own party in the issue of protective tariffs. I believe that most protective tariffs harm our economy but some are needed for the betterment of our country such as a tariff on ways of energy production such as foreign oil. We should, nay, Must protect our citizens before we protect foreign companies and monopolies."

"The problem is oil itself, oil is limited to a number of spots on earth so we need to deal with that; we need to get oil out of our cars and out of our plastics and stop using one resource for everything, because the free market can't sell the sun for nearly the amount of money they can sell a limited resource; which is a failure of the free market to innovate wouldn't you two agree?"

"As long as there is a demand, the free market can provide it. If it was really a problem, then the consumers would stop buying a product, until it no longer dealt with oil."

"Mr. Roosevelt, I don't believe that you grasp what you're saying here. What my party is trying to do is eliminate dependence on oil. The difference between you and me is that you want it done in a day while I plan on doing it realistically over a course of time, and if I may quote John Heywood, 'Rome wasn't built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour.'"

"My foreign policy is very simple, keep other people out of our business and stay out of their's, unless it is in our economic interests.
